Inspired by a local charitable couple who lost their home in a devastating fire Sunday, people in the Hazleton area are giving back. Michael and Michele Klesh, who serve free holiday meals to the needy and lonely at no cost from their Safe Harbor Lighthouse, South Church Street, lost everything when their home caught fire in the NewCoxeville section of Hazle o insurance. So far, several fundraisers have been planned to help give back to a couple that has given so much to so many. Oil change discounts Jeff Berger, vice president of Berger FamilyDealerships, plans to offer a two day special on oil and filter changes to raise money for the couple. Berger said employees came up with the idea. EaTownship. They had nch person who signs up for the fundraiser will be charged $10 for the oil and filter change, which Berger said is more than half off the regular price. That money will be donated directly to the Kleshes. The fundraiser will be heldWednesday and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Those interested are asked to make an appointment with the dealership at 454-0856 and ask for the oil change donation.Any vehicle, no matter the make or where it was purchased, will be accepted for service, Berger said. Berger said the dealership will also accept additional donations for the Kleshes during that time. About 20 Berger employees agreed to extend their normal work schedule to help with the fundraiser, he said. Garrison Burczy, technician, is one of those employees. “I’ll do what I can for the community,” he said. His colleague, Joe Chunko, said employees don’t mind working extra to help someone out. | Valley Football Donation
